Hi there!
Welcome home!
I have had your names on my email list for a few weeks and now notice, from your last email, that you guys are just finishing up a week of skiing in Tahoe. Hope it was great, as I have no idea what the weather is doing way out there! If you put together one of those cool DVD's, be sure to send one my way so that CC&I can enjoy it.
Hope you are both doing okay after the loss of Yosemite. I am sure it seems quiet when you walk in the door?! Hard to lose those pals!
CC and I made the trip to Whistler back in January. What travels! We(all 8 of us traveling together) flew into Seattle, collected our 12 bags from luggage(people truly just stand in awe!), found our Suburban and headed out to find Pikes Fish Market. It was an incredibly windy day and the first trial of the week began not too long after finding a parking place...one of the kids opened the back door to get out, and the door just flew into the car parked alongside. To make matters worse, the people were just approaching their car to leave and had been rearended earlier in the day!
Traveling with the Henry's is always interesting...there is always someone crying, so it is a real test of patience. I love them, Annette is like a sister to me, but every family just lives differently and CC&I are always reminded of that on these ski trips. We, the two of us, are really quiet little peeps! The week is full of ski clothes and ski boots and wet mittens and hats and dryer loads of wet gear! In between all of that there is a pretty good day worth of skiing and hopefully some food now and then(and I won't say good food, because another thing I have learned is that the Henry children are incredibly fussy eaters!). It is by no means relaxing, but I am just glad CC loves it! She really has a great time in ski school, amplified by the fact that she is no longer a lone ranger but gets to share the fun with 4 other kids!!
The skiing was unbelievable, but damn cold. Winter break had just come to an end the Sunday we arrived, so on Monday the place was as quiet as could be. The talk was that Whistler was the place to be...one of the only places getting continuous snowfall. It rained and rained one day, which was a true test of our ski clothing, but we got beautiful snow and some sunshine otherwise. There were 1 or 2 times Annette and I would ski the entire run and not see anyone! I got broadsided by a snowboarder who nearly knocked my lights out, but good thing I'm "sturdy" as I like to say...more pissed than anything.
A week was enough though. I was glad to be home, heading out of the extreme cold we had that week. I think it ruined me really, because my cross-country skiis haven't yet made it out of the basement?! I'm ready for spring and riding!
Mike and I just made an offer on a house today here in town that we are really excited about. Have plans to marry on June 2nd out on the lake at mom&tim's...nothing big, real small gathering and informal. I think Marilyn did me in the first time around on anything otherwise. Mostly, I just pray that things will work out with the offer and we will soon find one home to call "home".
CC is doing great...will try to attach photos once I finish up here. She just loves school, gets out with Grampa on her cross-country skiis, and keeps me so entertained. I feel alittle melancholy at how quickly she is growing up though...like I miss my little girl! Doesn't mean I want to start over though, so don't suggest...
Okay...well, unpack those clothes and I'll look for your ski trip update here when you find a moment. Take care of yourselves...polish up those bikes and think spring! Love to you both! A&CC
PS...can't figure out how to include photos in yahoo mail. I am really handicapped when it comes to this computer. Hope, at least, whatever is in that file above gets there??!!
